9:00am Christian Education for all ages
10:15am SPECIAL MUSICAL PRELUDE
10:30am MESSIAH SUNDAY
Dear Members and Friends of St. John’s,
This Sunday, December 4th, is Messiah Sunday! The musical prelude will begin at 10:15am, followed by a spirited worship service in word and song featuring Handel’s Messiah (Christmas Portion and Hallelujah Chorus). Our Minister of Music, May Schwarz, has brought together a Festive Messiah Choir, a Chamber Orchestra, and talented Soloists to make Sunday’s worship service the best in the city! Please take a moment on Sunday to thank May for her remarkable efforts in directing this extraordinary musical program!
Please also take a moment on Sunday to welcome our new Children’s Director, Mary Torok, who started her duties with us this past week. Mary is already hard at work getting our Nursery and Christian Education space ready for more children and families! Mary comes to us with 27 years of experience in early childhood education, with 15 years of experience in children’s ministry with a Master of Christian Education degree from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio.
Next Sunday, December 11th, is the launch of our new worship format! We will host our Traditional Worship Service at 9am on Sundays, followed by our new Contemporary Worship Service at 11am, featuring St. John’s new worship band led by Worship Pastor Dan Clark. We will have new programming for adults and children at the 10am Education and Fellowship Hour, as we embark on this new ministry adventure together!
In the meantime, you will notice that St. John’s Sanctuary is “Under Construction”! We wish to thank our hard-working volunteers who removed the old Narthex structure to reveal wonderful height and light in the new entrance to the sanctuary.
Please consider making a special financial gift to St. John’s this Advent season to support our expanding music ministry, our new and vibrant children’s ministry, our new contemporary worship experience, and the expansion of our sanctuary. St. John’s is becoming an even brighter “beacon of hope” in this city – and we are so grateful you are on this journey with us!
In Advent anticipation,
