11:00am CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP
Featuring the new St. John’s Contemporary Worship Band
Dear Members and Friends of St. John’s,
THIS SUNDAY, December 11th, we move to our much-anticipated NEW WORSHIP FORMAT!
We are so grateful that after many years of one worship service on Sundays at 10:30am, we are now ready to move into a new era of ministry, with two worship services – now at 9am and at 11am – each featuring a different style of worship music designed to better meet the needs of our changing world.
The 9:00am Classic Worship Service will feature our traditional music program led by St. John’s Chancel Choir, under the direction of our Minister of Music, May Schwarz.
The 11am Contemporary Worship Service will feature our new contemporary music program, led by Worship Pastor Dan Clark and our new Contemporary Worship Band.
Both services will remain connected by common liturgical worship themes, as prepared by the Senior Pastor and the worship team. The Senior Pastor will continue to serve as lead preacher at both services, with continued support from our Assistant Pastor, who will also serve at both services.
Our new 10am Coffee, Connect, and Learn time will feature Christian education and programming for children, families, and adults, as well as coffee and fellowship in our new Welcome Center. (Did I mention there will be lots of coffee available?)
For adults at the 10am hour, the pastoral team will offer a new five week DVD based discussion on Making Relationships Work by Dr. John Gottman. Did you know that there are some simple tools for making any relationship really work?
For children at the 10am hour, our new Children’s Director, Mary Torok, will offer Christian education for children of all ages. Pastor Mary comes to St. John’s with a wealth of resources for children and families, so don’t miss this opportunity to sign the kids up for a class with “Miss Mary”!
Nursery care for infants and toddlers will available during both the 9am and the 11am worship services, as well as during the 10am education hour.
Here at St. John’s, we are energized and excited as we continue to live into the vision of God’s future for our church – and we look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
In faith, hope, and love,
