On Friday, January 27th at 7:30 pm, we are pleased to announce that Raise Gospel Choir, under the director of Rev. Raymond Wise, will grace our sanctuary with uplifting music and a message for everyone! This first concert in our annual Triune Concert series is free and open to the public, and delicious refreshments will be served. Childcare will be provided, so come and enjoy a lovely date night filled with music and hope! More information is available on our church website at: www.stjohnschurchcolumbus.org and please share this information with your family and friends in person, and through social media.
Then on Tuesday, January 31 at 6:30 pm, we are privileged to host Maryhaven’s “One More Chance” program for families impacted by gambling. You may have seen the television commercials that Maryhaven is running to promote the program – but you may not know that St. John’s was one of four churches selected in Columbus to host the program! So please plan to attend, bring your families and friends, and if possible – help host, provide refreshments, etc. --- so that we might show Columbus the strength of our congregation! To learn more, visit the website at www.maryhaven.com/onemorechance or call 614-324-5425. (MORE INFORMATION IS BELOW).
Each Sunday we are moving a step closer to the final design of our two worship service schedule. Don’t miss the opportunity this winter to participate in the growth of our church!
The 9:00 am Traditional Worship Service features our traditional music program led by St. John’s Chancel Choir, under the direction of our Minister of Music, May Schwarz. The 11 am Contemporary Worship Service features our new contemporary music program, led by Music Pastor Dan Clark and our new Contemporary Worship Band. If you prefer inspirational and eclectic praise music, then this is the service for you!
On Sundays, we now offer our new 10 am Coffee, Connect, and Learn time featuring Christian education and programming for children, families, and adults, as well as coffee and fellowship in our new Welcome Center that is “under construction". For children at the 10 am hour, our new Children’s Director, Mary Torok, is offering Christian education for children of all ages in our new “Holy Moly” program. Nursery care for infants and toddlers will be available during both the 9 am and the 11 am worship services, as well as during the 10 am education hour.
Each week we make a difference at St. John’s, as we continue to live into our call to be “A Beacon of Hope in the Heart of the City.” There are so many people to thank, so many people who are involved – week after week – in these vital ministries. So to those who have dedicated their spiritual lives to this work – thank you! And to those who are just starting this journey with us – thank you!
As you continue to shine your Christ light in this world, please remember in prayer: Stephanie Savely Lind, Kyle Miller, Bill Reiner, Julie Beam, Carrie Lindig, Christa & Kathy Markus, Elnora Grotsky, Barbara Seeger, Mary & Kent Beittel, Marilyn Lindig, Chet Ward, and St John’s Ministry and Mission.
With abundant hope for the New Year,
