What has God given? The real question is what hasn't God given,
and then --how do we thankfully respond?
To feel truly rich for a moment, think about the things money can’t buy – true love, authentic fellowship,
real acceptance, soul friends. That’s what the church offers – for free.
Yet too often we struggle with money and faith, wondering what a “tithe” is (giving 10% of our income/assets to the church to the glory of God), or how we can commit to a regular gift to the church when other bills come due. A glance at our bank account statements or credit card bills quickly lets us know what our true values are. Rather than being disappointed or anxious by this truth, at St. John’s we have learned that money is like water.
Money is a resource to be used - to flow in a life giving way to transform our lives and the lives of others.
If we don’t have enough money, we can become thirsty in life and end up sleeping on the church porch until the local shelter opens
(which we allow at St. John’s, should you ever find yourself in need of a place to lay your head at night).
If we hoard our money, it can become stagnant and unavailable to transform our world.
The spiritual challenge in life is to find a faith-filled mission to support with your money. We kindly request that you generously support
St. John’s as we seek to transform individuals, our community, and the world through Christ’s light and love.
