The Largest Table is one of St. John’s most significant
missions of outreach and service. 

Downtown Columbus is a rich combination of people – office workers, business executives, local residents, and our homeless or marginally housed neighbors. Every Wednesday, our committed group of volunteers feed around 50 “in need” individuals and families a hot, home-cooked meal, in community with other guests from downtown – ​and we’ve been doing this faithfully for more than 10 years.

Our Wednesday volunteers are a diverse group – including life long members of St. John’s, active retirees, local church youth groups, school groups, as well as people from other businesses and organizations. Some people come from different faith traditions to serve at The Largest Table, and here at St. John’s, we work with – not against – people from other traditions. Why? Because God is still speaking, and we are still listening!

Recently, we moved The Largest Table to Trinity Episcopal Church. They have a beautiful indoor dining room, and are conveniently located right across from the Ohio Statehouse at 125 Broad Street.

Our greatest need? Volunteers!
Each year we serve more guests, so we’ve created multiple teams of volunteers to manage this growing ministry. Our ministry partners provide food each week, and our team preps the food, and serves each person who comes to us. 
 
Are you or your group/company/organization interested in volunteering? Here’s how you can help:

• Attend The Largest Table (now located at Trinity Episcopal Church) and spend time with our guests
• Donate funds to the church to provide the meals and supplies
• Donate precooked meals or desserts
• Help with meal preparation. 
• Gather your own team to cook a meal alongside our experienced volunteers
• Help with meal service
• Serve on the clean-up team at 1pm on Wednesdays
